Shinca Entertainment, LLC, formerly Shinca Productions, is an American entertainment producer of movies, television shows, comics, music, animation and video games founded by Shin Koyamada and Nia Lyte (Carolina Manrique) in Burbank, California. The company has offices in Tokyo and Bogota.
History
In October 2005, Shinca Productions, Inc was originally formed by Shin Koyamada and Nia Lyte to develop and produce American films and television shows in Burbank, California. In 2006, Shinca secured the financial capital to develop and produce a talk show The Nia Lyte Show, targeting audience in the United States and Latin America. In 2008, Shinca changed its name to Shinca Entertainment when the company expanded its divisions such as comics, manga, video games, music and web series.
In 2009, Shinca formed a joint venture company Laizen Comics with American comic artist Travis Moore from DC Comics' Freedom Fighters, Justice Society of America, to develop, produce and publish an American comic book as well as Meter On Records with a music composer Erich Bulling who composed feature film Dirty Dancing to release its fist single album Movin' On released on iTunes.[1][2]
In 2011, Shinca formed an American television and web channel Spirit Show Network with Claudia Hallowell Entertainment to distribute the American television series.
Divisions and ventures
Shinca Entertainment manages its operational divisions such as films, television shows, comics, music, video games and web series listed below as well as the joint venture companies with various companies.
Shinca Pictures
The division is responsible for live-action and animated feature films and short films. In 2007, Shinca formed its film division Shinca Pictures to develop an American film Ticker, written by Stephen Langford who also wrote Family Matters, Love Wrecked, Just Deal, Malcolm & Eddie as well as to produce an American film Good Soil. Shinca was based in Warner Bros building until 2008.
Shinca Television
The division is responsible for live-action and animated television shows. In 2006, Shinca Productions begun developing and producing a talk show called The Nia Lyte Show, targeting English and Spanish speaking audience in the United States and Latin America.
In 2012, Shinca Television partnered up with Claudia Hallowell Entertainment to form a new American joint venture television channel Spirit Show Network as well as to develop and produce American television series Spirit Fashion that features Sue Wong, Alexis Bellino, Janice Dickinson, Spirit Art that features Anthony Denison, Spirit Music, Spirit Love and Spirit Earth, which were distributed by Spirit Show Network.[3][4]
Shinca Comics
The division is responsible for American comics and manga. In 2008, Shinca launched Shinca Comics to develop, produce and publish American comics. In 2009, Shinca Comics has partnered up with an American comics artist Travis Moore who later also illustrated DC Comics' Freedom Fighters, Justice Society of America, Wonder Woman, Titan, The Green Team, Sword of Sorcery.[5][6][7][8] and formed an American joint venture comic book company Laizen Comics to develop, produce and publish its first comic series The Dreamhoppers in the US.
Shinca Comics is in development of a new action-adventure comic series with Claudia Hallowell Entertainment scheduled to be published in 2015.
Shinca Online
The division is responsible for web series and online contents. In 2013, the division developed, produced and distributed the first American web series Heart of the Dragon, directed by Jeff McDonald who also directed a short film Dream of the Lizard , written by James E. West II who also wrote Disney Channel's The Proud Family and Paramount Television's Moesha and starring by Shin Koyamada from The Last Samurai. It has been released in YouTube channel.
Shinca Games
The division is responsible for video games. In 2013, Shinca Games begun its development of a new cyberpunk RPG game called Reborn, featuring Miyamoto Musashi for PS4 and PS3 with the American video game company Elemental Labs in Los Angeles, California. It was announced at the Tokyo Game Show in Japan.[9][10][11][12]
