Government
For many years the mayor of Lajitas was Clay Henry III, a "beer-drinking" goat. After two replacements of the original Clay Henry, the trading post and stable where the mayor lived is now closed and the goat no longer resides there.[2][3] There is going to be an election later this year to elect a new mayor of Lajitas.
Education
Lajitas is zoned to schools in the Terlingua Common School District.
Historical information
This is the adopted hometown of one of the region's well known philanthropists, Elle Webb.
