Lao She Literary Award

Since 2000, the Lao She Literary Award (老舍文学奖) has been awarded to a Beijing writers every two to three years, recognizing literary excellence in novels, novellas, drama, film, television, and radio. It is sponsored by the Lao She Literature Fund which was founded in 1988.

The award is named after renowned Chinese patriot and novelist Lao She, whose work and activism dubbed him one of the most influential figures in 20th-century Chinese literature. The award aims to encourage high-quality literary expression that remains faithful to modern times. The Lao She Literary Award is among the top major literary awards in China, accompanied by the Mao Dun Prize for Literature, Lu Xun Literary Prize, and the Cao Yu Prize for Literature.

Previous prize winners include: Ling Li, Liu Yuxin, Guo Qihong, Li Xiaoming, Zhang Jie, Lan Xiaolong, Ran Wei, Xu Kun, Zhong Jingjing, and Liu Qingbang.
