The Laredo Lemurs are a professional baseball team based in Laredo, Texas that plays in the independent American Association since 2012. The team plays their home games at Uni-Trade Stadium in Laredo, replacing the Laredo Broncos of United League Baseball.[1]

History

The franchise was formerly based in Shreveport, Louisiana as the Shreveport-Bossier Captains. Following the 2011 season, the franchise was purchased by a new group of investors based in Laredo who announced that the team would move for the 2012 season.[2]

In September 2013, the Lemurs Tano Tijerina, a former minor-league pitcher of team of the Milwaukee Brewers and the incoming Webb County County Judge, as the starting pitcher in the inaugural "Family Chevrolet Sister Cities Baseball Classic", presented by Tecate beer Uni-Trade Stadium.[3][4] For the 2014 season the Laredo Lemurs have changed ownership with the new investors to be announced.
