Lavis (German: Laifs) is a comune (municipality) in Trentino in the northern Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about 7 kilometres (4 miles) north of Trento. As of 31 December 2006, it had a population of 8,307 and an area of 12.4 square kilometres (4.8 sq mi).[1]
The municipality of Lavis contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Pressano, Sorni and Nave San Felice.
Lavis borders the following municipalities: Giovo, San Michele all'Adige, Nave San Rocco, Zambana, Trento and Terlago.
