Lenište is a village in Municipality of Prilep. Lenište is divided into odavde and odande neighbourhood. Located north-east of Prilep, right from the road A1 (Macedonia). Since 1912 the village gradually dispersed, often in Prilep. Mass emigration occurred between 1961 and 1971.

The village by an asphalt road. Above the village is the Monastery of Sts. Five. Neighbouring villages are villages Pletvar and hamlet .

The village has a well maintained main road, from where it starts to when it ends at the main church . Above the village is the Monastery of St. Parasćeva, although it also has a smaller church with a graveyard. Neighbouring villages are Pletvar, Selce and Zapološko.

Formerly, a ridge east of Leniste is there, there were running waters that occasionally moved rural mills. In the courtyard of the monastery, there are gizzard stones. the water still works today.

History

According to one tradition, Mark Cepenkov wrote Leniste village got its name according flax which they scattered population. [1] Tradition Lenishte founded displaced residents of the nearby village Zapološko about 170 years. Arable land in most of Leniste is near the displaced village. Most arable land belongs to the Turks.

Geography

Leniste is located on Dogwood Mountain, northeast of the town of Prilep

Demographics

At the beginning of the 20th century, approximately people 380 inhabitants lived in Leniste. [2]

The 1994 census counted 2 residents, and the last census in 2002. Nobody lived, ever since the village is considered displaced. Leniste is one of three polling stations in Macedonia with the lowest number of registered voters only three. Even they do not live in the village, but in Prilep [3] [4] .

Social institutions

Village church is dedicated to St. Atanas. it was built about 100 years ago. Besides the church and cemetery are located.

The road leading from the village to the monastery St. Parasceva in August 2005 placed a commemorative plaque by the MoD of the RM (Engineer Regiment) at the initiative of the association of reserve conscripts.

The village fair is St. Atanas "Summer."
