Ling Ling Chang (born July 24, 1976) is an American politician currently serving in the California State Assembly. She is a Republican representing the 55th district, encompassing parts of Los Angeles, Orange, and San Bernardino counties. Prior to being elected to the state assembly, she was a Diamond Bar city councilmember. Ling Ling Chang is a current candidate for California's 29th State Senate district. She will be running against former Irvine mayor Sukhee Kang and veteran Josh Newman to succeed Bob Huff in 2016 due to term limits.
Early life, education, and family
Born in Taiwan, Ling and her family emigrated to the United States when she was three years old. She was raised in Diamond Bar and graduated from Diamond Bar High School. She attended University of California, Riverside.
She is married to Andrew Wong, an attorney who also serves as an elected member of the Pomona Unified School District Board of Education.
Pre-Assembly career
Chang was elected to the Diamond Bar City Council in November 2009, and was re-elected in November 2013. She served as Mayor from 2011-2012. Chang also served as an elected member of the Walnut Valley Water District Board of Directors from 2005-2009, and as a member of the Diamond Bar Community Services Commission from 2004-2006. Chang also served as a gubernatorial appointee to the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians.
