List of Michigan state game areas
The U.S. state of Michigan has a system of publicly owned lands managed for primarily for wildlife habitat, wildlife watching and hunting. Over 100 units in the game and wildlife system cover 340,000 acres (1,400 km2)[1] and are managed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment. Some units have primitive camping, hiking/cross-country skiing trails and boat access but the sites are mostly undeveloped and unstaffed. Units go under various designations as state game areas, state wildlife areas, state wildlife management areas, state fish and wildlife areas, state wildlife research areas, and game units.
Hunting and fishing are not restricted to just these areas. See also List of Michigan state parks.
