Young State Park is a 563-acre (2.3 km2) state park in the U.S. State of Michigan. It is located near Boyne City in Charlevoix County in the northwest of Northern Michigan. The park, which sits on the eastern edge of 17,260-acre (69.8 km2) Lake Charlevoix, offers numerous opportunities for land- and water-based recreation.
Facilities and activities
- Swimming
- Hiking. The park offers five miles of nature trails.
- Cross-country skiing. Ski trails are groomed.
- Fishing: Lake Charlevoix is stocked with lake, brown and rainbow trout; little anglers can try for sunfish and rock bass stocked in Mirror Pond.
- Boating: A launch gives vessels under 16 feet in length access to Lake Charlevoix.
- Picnicking
- Playground
- Camping: Three campgrounds offer overnighters 240 modern campsites and two mini cabins.
- Metal Detecting: Metal detecting is permitted in designated areas of the park; however, any found items are subject to review by park staff and may be retained pending further investigation.
