This article contains records for men's Twenty20 Internationals.[1]
![Shahid_Afridi](../I/m/Shahid_Afridi_at_the_County_Ground%2C_Taunton%2C_during_Pakistan's_2010_tour_of_England_-_20100902.jpg)
Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket is played between international cricket teams who are either Full Members of the International Cricket Council (ICC) or the top six Associate and Affiliate members,[2] as well as Nepal and the Netherlands.[3] Unlike Test matches, T20Is consist of one innings per team, each limited to 20 overs. The first T20I was played between New Zealand and Australia on 17 February 2005;[4] since then there have been 557 T20Is played by 22 teams as of 3 April 2016.[5] The frequency of matches has steadily increased, partly because of the increase in the number of T20I-playing countries, and partly as the cricket boards of those nations seek to maximise their revenue.[6]
As of 3 April 2016, the most successful team in T20I cricket, in terms of win percentage is India (61.80%).[7] The least successful is Canada (23.68%) (Qualification: Min 10 matches played).[8] 17 teams feature in ICC T20I team rankings.[9][10] Pakistan is the only team to play 100 Twenty20 International cricket matches.[11]
Cricket is, by its nature, capable of generating large numbers of records and statistics. Records and statistics are kept for individual players and teams across the three disciplines of batting, bowling, and fielding. Some of these lists are aggregate in nature. The trend of countries to increase the number of T20I matches they play means that these aggregate lists are dominated by modern players. Examples of such lists include the most career runs, most career wickets taken, most dismissals by a wicketkeeper, and most catches taken. Other, non-aggregate records, include most runs scored in an over, highest career strike rate, and most consecutive wins and defeats.
Listing notation
Team notation
- (100/3) indicates that a team scored 100 runs for three wickets and the innings was closed, either due to a successful run chase or if no overs remained (or are able) to be bowled.
- (100) indicates that a team scored 100 runs and was all out, either by losing all ten wickets or by having one or more batsmen unable to bat and losing the remaining wickets.
Batting notation
- (100*) indicates that a batsman scored 100 runs and was not out.
- (75) indicates that a batsman scored 75 runs and was out after that.
Bowling notation
- (5/40) indicates that a bowler has captured 5 wickets while giving away 40 runs.
- (19.5 overs) indicates that a team bowled 19 complete overs (each of six legal deliveries), and one incomplete over of just five deliveries.
