Established 1898 as a Department of Agricultural Physics with Franklin Hiram King as its first professor. Twenty faculty members (2006); degrees include undergraduate (Bachelor of Science, Natural Resources, Agriculture, or Business), M.Sc, and Ph.D.

degrees include Bachelor of Science (Majors include: Soil Science, Soil and Land Management, and Waste Management; Minors: Soil Science; Also available: Certificate in wetland science) and Master of Science (Natural Resources).
