1Cunningham and Ritchie were the only American pilot aces of the Vietnam War. The other three were Weapon Systems Officers (Air Force) or Radar Intercept Officers (Navy). Robin Olds was a triple ace who flew in the Vietnam War, but only 4 of his 16 kills were from Vietnam, the other 12 were from WWII.[6]
