List of converts to Sikhism
This is a list of converts to Sikhism. Sikhism does not favour proselytizing or vigorous conversion campaigns, but allows people to follow the religion according to their own will. Anyone interested in adopting Sikhism as his or her religion is free to do so irrespective of one's gender, race or ethnicity.
- Max Arthur Macauliffe (1841–1913) - senior British administrator who was posted in the Punjab, Macauliffe was a prolific scholar and author who converted to Sikhism in the 1860s.[1][2]
- Vic Briggs - former blues musician who converted and took the name Vikram Singh Khalsa. Later he became the first non-subcontinental to perform kirtan at Harimandir Sahib.[3]
- Vikram Kaur Khalsa - former model and actress who starred in several horror movies.[4][5]
- Gurmukh - Yoga teacher and co-founder and director of the Golden Bridge Yoga Center in Los Angeles.[6][7]
- Babaji Singh - credited with translating Guru Granth Sahib, the holy text of the Sikhs into Spanish.[8][9]
- Dharma Singh Khalsa - medical researcher in the field of Alzheimer's Disease.[10]
- Mahan Atma Singh Khalsa - formerly Andy Strachan, was a guitarist and a member of DYS (band) and later co-founded the more rock-focused band Slaughter Shack. After leaving music, Strachan has since converted to Sikhism.[11]
- Martin Singh - Nova Scotia pharmacist and businessman and candidate for the leadership of the New Democratic Party of Canada in 2012.
- Alexandra Aitken - actress and daughter of former British cabinet minister Jonathan Aitken. Her name appeared in "Hottest Daughters of Politicians Ever" by rantpolitical magazine.
- Peggy Ferrar DiCaprio - Actress and wife of writer George DiCaprio and step-mother of actor Leonardo DiCaprio.
- Ocean Singh - A MTV Roadies contestant. Ocean Singh was born a Hindu and he embraced Sikh Religion after learning the basic concepts of the faith. He stated in the audition that Sikh Religion appealed to him due to the importance of being soldier and a saint.[12][13]
