List of parishes in New Brunswick
This is a list of parishes in the Canadian province of New Brunswick. Their political significance was abolished in the 1960s, although they are still considered census subdivisions by Statistics Canada. In most cases, parishes are either used as or divided into local service districts.
The Interpretation Act[1] of New Brunswick states that parishes contain all municipalities within them, however, Statistics Canada separates all incorporated municipalities from their parishes, and local service districts only cover unincorporated areas. To clarify, parishes no longer exist except simply as geographical expressions. Local Service Districts replaced them, and even though many of them (not all) do have the same boundaries and names as their predecessor parish, they are not the same thing and the parish concept is completely defunct.
List
New Brunswick has 152 parishes, of which 150 are recognized as census subdivisions by Statistics Canada.[2] Unless noted, all figures below are for census subdivisions, which do not include areas within municipalities or Indian reserves.
Former parishes

Portland | Saint John | Amalgamated with the City of Saint John in 1889. |
