This is a list of political parties in the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic has a multi-party system. Due to the electoral system operated, a limited number of parties are successful in parliamentary elections.
Parliamentary parties
There are currently seven parties in the Chamber of Deputies – the Social Democratic Party (ČSSD), ANO 2011, the Communist Party (KSČM), TOP 09, the Civic Democratic Party (ODS), the Christian and Democratic Union – Czechoslovak People's Party (KDU-ČSL) and Dawn of Direct Democracy (Dawn). All except the Dawn have also seats in the Senate, as do the Green Party (SZ), Mayors and Independents (STAN), Severočeši.cz (S.cz), the Party of Civic Rights (SPO), the Pirate Party (Pirates), Party of Freeholders of the Czech Republic (SsČR) and political movement Ostravak. Other parliamentary party is the Party of Free Citizens which have one MP in the European Parliament.
In March 2015, founder and former leader of Dawn of Direct Democracy, Tomio Okamura, was expelled from the party and the party was renamed to Dawn - National Coalition, changed logo, leadership and opened itself for new members and cooperation with newly founded Bloc against Islam. Tomio Okamura meanwhile founded a new party called Freedom and Direct Democracy with two other ex-Dawn members.
Three parties – ČSSD, ODS, and KSČM – have managed to elect members to every Parliament since the Czech Republic's independence.
The current government is composed of ČSSD, ANO 2011 and KDU-ČSL.
