Lumension Security, Inc. is a software developer of endpoint management and security software providing endpoint protection, vulnerability management, data protection, application whitelisting, encryption, USB security and risk management. Lumension is largely focused on providing IT security to organizations and businesses.

Company profile

The company employs more than 250 people worldwide including the United States, Ireland, Luxembourg, Singapore, the United Kingdom and Australia. Lumension's security software protects more than 5,100 customers worldwide, and its products are used to manage more than 40 million nodes globally.

Originally founded as High Tech Software in 1991, the company was rebranded as PatchLink Corporation in 1999 and then adopted the present Lumension name in 2007.[3]

Lumension is a privately owned company that is headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona.[1] Lumension competes in the endpoint management and security industry against Sophos, McAfee, Kaspersky Lab, Symantec and Trend Micro among others.

Acquisitions and Partnerships

In August 2006, PatchLink (now Lumension) and SecureWave announced a partnership to offer both forms of their technologies to enterprises.[4]

In February 2007, PatchLink (now Lumension) acquired the STAT Guardian Vulnerability Management Suite from Harris Corporation, an internal communications and information technology company.[5][6]

In October 2007, Lumension and KACE Networks announced partnership to provide improved patch management to KACE Networks enterprise customers.[7]

In June 2007, while still known as PatchLink, the company acquired SecureWave SA, a Luxembourg company that provides endpoint security software, in an all-stock merger and then renamed the combined company as Lumension Security, Inc. in September 2007.[8]

In September 2008, Lumension announced partnership with Aurora to better serve Aurora customers.[9]

In April 2009, Lumension acquired Securityworks, a Texas firm specializing in computerized risk analysis.[10]

In March 2010, Lumension and Citrix Systems announced a partnership to extend Lumension's Endpoint Integrity service to Citrix customers.[11]

In June 2011, Lumension and Sophos announced a partnership to offer full disk encryption capabilities through the Lumension Endpoint Management and Security Suite.[12]

In November 2012, Lumension acquired CoreTrace, a company based in Austin, Texas, that develops software that prevents the execution of malware and unknown executables.[13]
