The Lutsk National Technical University is a Ukrainian university in Lutsk at the IV accreditation level. It was founded in 1966 and is located at 75 Lvivska street, Lutsk
History
The history of Lutsk NTU began in 1966, with the decision of the former Ministry for Higher and Secondary Specialised Education of the URSR, to found a branch of the General Engineering Faculty of the Kyiv Automobile and Highway Institute (now National Transport University) in Lutsk. Dmytro Konovalyak was the head of the branch.
In 1968 this branch was developed into a General Technical Faculty, and in 1971 the faculty was subordinated first to the Ukrainian Institute of Water Transport Engineering. and then to .
Owing to high rate of growth of the Volyn region's industrial potential, in 1975 the branch became the Lutsk affiliate of the Lviv Polytechnical Institute, with day, evening and distance learning. During its existence, over 2,000 engineers were trained.
The first director of the affiliate was I.Khorolskyi. Since 1977 Professor Viktor Bozhydarnik has been the Rector of the university. In 1979 the first class of mechanical engineers graduated; in 1981, the first class of civil engineers.
In 1985 the departments were reorganized into faculties. On April 1, 1991, after Ukraine became a sovereign state, the Lutsk Branch of Lviv Polytechnical Institute became the Lutsk Industrial Institute.' It consisted of four faculties, thirteen and later seventeen departments. In that year 289 graduates got their diplomas as engineers. That year it opened a post-graduate school, and received the right of awarding the candidate degrees, in addition to the degrees of Bachelor, Specialist and Master.
On 24 December 1997 a decision of the Council of Ministers changed the school to Lutsk State Technical University. then, on 11 April 2008, a Decree of the President of Ukraine, gave the university the status of National, and its present name. Lutsk National Technical University The university is the member of the Association of Universities of Black Sea Region.
Today Lutsk NTU trains specialists both by full-time training and by correspondence. a total of 7746 students
Structure
The university has 9 faculties, 3 centres, 3 colleges, 35 departments, where near 7746 of students study. as of 20 January 2016[still correct?]. The teachers’ body amounts 451 people. Among them there are 41 Doctors of Science and Professors, 276 Candidates of Science and Associate Professors, Academicians and Corresponding Members of branch academies.
Educational and student facilities
The school occupies an area of 60,990,000 square meters. . There are 12 well equipped educational-laboratory buildings as well as a ground and vehicle testing point.
Lutsk NTU has two sporting health-improvement tourist inns on the lakes Svityaz' and Pisochne, as well as a sports complex with a gym, two fitness centers and a room for aerobics, 25 – meters long pool and a stadium.
External cooperation
The various programs actively collaborate with similar programs in Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Poland, Great Britain and Germany.The Business faculty has agreements on parallel training in with Poznan Academy of Hotel Economy, Wroclaw Economic University, University of Logistics and Customs (Czech Republic), University of Barcelona, High School of International Relations and Social Communication in Chelm. he Ecology, instruments and power systems departments collaborate with the Institute of Semiconductor Physics of NAS of Ukraine, Institute of Nuclear Research of NAS of Ukraine, Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, Ivan Franko Lviv National University, Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, Mykhailo Lomonosov Moscow State University, Leningrad State Hydrometeorological Institute, Zheshiv Politechnic (Poland), Higher Technical School Lippe (Germany) and others.

The Technological Faculty is a member of Ukrainian Packaging Club, Ukrainian Materials Science and Member of editorial board of “Upakovka” magazine and has its own scientific periodicals.

According to the newspaper “Education in Ukraine” (26th edition) the 25 June 2012 and on the website http://www.euroosvita.net the list of the best technical universities of Ukraine was announced. It was prepared by the Institute of the Innovative Technologies and of the content of education of the Ministry of the education, science, youth and sport of Ukraine. According to this list Lutsk National Technical University takes the 7th place among 26 universities.
