Lyle & Scott is a Scottish knitwear brand known for its rich 141-year heritage.
History
Lyle & Scott was founded in 1874 in the Scottish town of Hawick by William Lyle and Walter Scott. Today the brand continues to draw inspiration from its extensive archive collections including designs by Christian Dior and Michael Kors. The Lyle & Scott golf range, which was founded in 1967 was quick to be adapted by many famous golfers such as Tony Jacklin, Gary Player and Greg Norman as well as golfing enthusiasts such as Bob Hope, Gareth Ford and Ronnie Corbett,[1] with the latter usually sporting a Lyle & Scott jumper during his monologues on The Two Ronnies. David Beckham and Idris Elba have been seen sporting the golden eagle on numerous occasions.
In 2003 the ‘Vintage’ collection was launched, along with the embroidered ‘Golden Eagle’ logo. Following the success of the Vintage range, Lyle & Scott opened its first stand-alone store in 2005, in London’s Covent Garden on King Street. 2007 saw the launch of the Heritage collection, which was characterized by a more discreet, tonal logo. Early 2009 also saw the launch of the Lyle & Scott e-commerce website, which comprises the full Lyle & Scott portfolio, available to purchase & deliver worldwide.
Moving into 2016, Lyle & Scott now encompasses the Vintage Collection, the newly launched London Collection & Fitness Range, Men's and Women's golf and a Junior Collection.
