The M66 derby is a fixture between Bury and Rochdale in English league football. The fixture was first contested on 5 January 1946, and is considered a fierce local rivalry. Respective managers Keith Hill and David Flitcroft worked together as manager and assistant at Rochdale previously.
Spotland and Gigg Lane are separated by a short distance of 6.3 miles. The M66 derby has been marred with acts of hooliganism and vandalism in recent times.[1] The two sides last met in the league on 17 October 2015, which was a 0–0 draw, after Bury's return to League One. Their last meeting was in the FA Cup on 6 December 2015 at Spotland. Bury won 1-0.
