MSG-2 The Messenger is an Indian action film directed by Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and Jeetu Arora released on 18 September 2015. The film is a sequel to MSG: The Messenger, which was released earlier in the same year. The film starring Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insan, Arpit Ranka, Rohit Khurana depicts the challenges faced by Savages for survival. The Tamil, Telugu versions of the movie were released on 1st October 2015.[2]

Plot

The Film begins with an introduction of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan as Guru Ji, rescuing innocent beings and doing noble deeds. He is offered sweets from a box of sweets by some of the devotees, on asked about the reason, the Devotees say that these sweets are in celebration of the Govt. declaring the neighbourhood Savages as terrorists and they are so relieved after this announcement from Govt. as these Savages had become a nightmare for these residents who used to take away their livestock and cattle and eat them raw, they used to loot them using bow and arrows, used by them with extreme precision. The local authorities are wary of these. The Army is being deployed to put them at bay, but after losing their men to these Ace Archers, the Army is planning missions to throw these Savages out and if possible out of this World. Guru Ji did not like this idea of declaring them as terrorists and subjecting them to cruelty as Animals. According to Guru ji all are humans and no inhuman treatment is justified, even if they are behaving like animals, that doesn't make them Animals. According to Guru ji every person has the capability to be reformed with love and affection. From there, starts mission reformation of these so called Animal like beings. In-spite of opposition & life endangering events on Guru Ji from the Savages, Guru Ji decides to fight for the rights and well being of these Savages. A police force led by Arjun, a police inspector attacks the Savages and gets retaliated badly with most of the officers killed and Arjun too is saved by Guru ji, a man he has never met before, just had a glimpse before falling unconscious. Arjun goes to meet Guru ji and Babru also comes at the same time to see who this powerful man (Guru ji) is who is able to face us and this is the time when they get face to face with Guru ji. and One after the other line up of events, Guru Ji saves the lives of Tibru tribe's head Babru's son and gains his confidence, and also comes to know that Guru ji has all the signs of their Aadi Guru, the deity worshiped by them, since so many years. And that's how, Tibru Tribe takes on to the path of civilization being led by Guru Ji and their Aadi Guru, leaving their age old practices of hunting and killing raw meat and taking up to farming and other techniques of fulfilling their needs. Suddenly a call for the sacrifice of a human to appease the Goddess comes calling, and this is a practice which is followed by these tribes for centuries and every year a human life is sacrificed by these collection of 16 tribes. Last sacrifice was made by Tibru Tribe and Babru's father made the sacrifice. Now it's the turn of this tribe again after 16 years. When Guru ji asks them to refuse for sacrifice, Guru ji comes to know that these people are against civilization and hate civilized people and it is Ajgar the head of 16 tribes who saves them from civilized people. On asked upon why they hate people living in cities, Babru states that the reason for this goes back to the times of Mahabharata, these people were successors to Eklavya's tribe the renowned Archer who gave his thumb as Guru Dakshina and still could not get respect for his tribe. His forefathers told him not to worry and during Kalyuga there will be a man who will bring respect to our tribe. Guru ji makes them understand that soon there will be a time when people will recognize Eklavya as a great Archer and even modern Archery is based on the methodology invented by him. He used 3 fingers to pull out arrows and thumb is not required in this technique. Modern Archery also uses Fingers and Thumb is not really required for the same. But still not following Ajgar means bringing down hell for these creatures, as he was very strong and played with snakes as a child. On Guru Ji's insistence, these Savages refuse to offer sacrifice. On hearing this, Ajgar is raging with anger and decides to teach Tibru tribe a lesson, He picks up the whole tribe as his hostage and is about to offer Babru's son as a sacrifice. Just then Guru ji arrives at the Scene saving him from a barbaric death. Soon Ajgar realizes, Guru Ji is no ordinary man and also the Army's run for his life might meet success, his own tribe seems to be against him, as the Army was about to enter the area and take their lives, as they were declared as anti social elements, terrorists and it seems wise to surrender his life to the Army rather than risk the entire system and tribes. It is then that he overhears the talks of Babru and Guru ji where the same Guru who he is up and against is taking his side and the only well wisher for him. He asks for pardon for his deeds and runs away saying that he is going to surrender himself, but it's already too late and the Army has entered the area and they take him as a hostage and as they are about to fire a bullet, Guru ji reaches the spot and saves him and fights the entire Army single handedly. Suddenly we see there Durjan Singh, with his powerful men telling Guru Ji how he tried multiple efforts right from influencing the Minister to instigating the Army into believing that Savages are their biggest enemies, and even trying to take Guru Ji's life, and failed miserably because of Guru ji. It is then the Army realizes that Durjan Singh has been misleading them and that this Guru Ji is the same man "Sant Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan" who has been providing blood for Indian Army, eyes to the old parents of army officers, even kidneys to the needy army personnel, they ask for pardon to Guru ji and Durjan Singh once again is left alone and defeated in front of Guru Ji's noble initiatives.

Critical response

NDTV review gave it half a star out of five, describing it as "an obnoxiously crafted propaganda film that lacks finesse."[24] Nandini Ramnath of Scroll.in commented, "even at 133 minutes, there is absolutely nothing in it for people who are not Dera Sacha Sauda devotees." Ramnath continued, "He is on a mission to gain greater influence. Singh has demonstrated that he has the funds and the ability to start a movie franchise. As long as there are newspaper columns that can be bought and cinema seats to be filled, there will be no stopping him"[25] Rohit Vats of Hindustan Times wrote, "Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji performs a lot of unbelievable stunts in this blatant self promotion."[26] Mohar Basu of Times of India gave MSG-2 one star out of five, describing the film as "merely a vanity project for Pitaji who uses it to exhibit the blingy clothes he designs [and] the gibberish rock songs he composes". Basu explained that the film earned the one star, "for the scene in which Babaji sword-fights in his beautiful Rani-pink frock. Killer and how."[1]

Raja Sen of Rediff, criticized one of the film's plot points, Singh's travels into jungles to liberate Adivasis, India's indigenous tribal population, who are depicted as savages. "Who's to say aboriginal 'Junglee' savages are any less civilised than a hirsute man who leaps off jeeps -- and onto elephants -- while dressed as Lady Gaga on a particularly technicolour day." Sen further described the film as "a laughable product that nevertheless forces us to introspect a bit and ask ourselves who we are".[27]
