T-Series is a music label owned by Super Cassettes Industries Private Limited (SCIL), an Indian music company[1] also engaged in film production and distribution. It has ventured into other consumer product categories including the manufacturing of incense sticks (Rajni Industries) and washing powder (Gopal Soap Industries).

History

T-Series was founded by Gulshan Kumar[2] and is currently run by his son, Bhushan Kumar.[3] The T-Series entered into film production in 2001 with the film, Tum Bin.[4] T-Series' first original film soundtrack release was for the film Lallu Ram in 1984, with music scored by Ravindra Jain.[5] T-Series worked with various film music directors, including Vishal Dadlani, Shekhar Rajviani, Anand Raj Anand, Ankit Tiwari, Meet Bros Anjjan, and Amal Malik, and later ventured into manufacturing consumer electronics and audio-video systems also under the T-Series label until 2009.[6] The label has also ventured into releasing devotional albums and many regional albums in Indian languages such as Punjabi, Odia, Rajasthani, and Bhojpuri.
