Mahbuba Islam Rakhi (Bengali: মাহবুবা ইসলাম রাখী; born 21 July 1993) is a Bangladeshi actress and model.[1][2] She won the most prestigious beauty pageant in Bangladesh-Lux Channel I Superstar 2010.[3][4][5][6] She stepped into the media through the drama Bishmoy written by Bipasha Hayat and directed by Toukir Ahmed in 2011.

Biography

Rakhi was born on 21 July 1993 in the Dhanmondi area of Dhaka City. Her childhood days passed in Dhanmondi. Some of her teenage days were passed in Elephant Road and some in Mohammadpur, Dhaka. Her father is a businessman. Rakhi is the youngest sibling among two brothers and one sister. Rakhi completed her A – level from a private institute under the British Council. On 25 July 2013, she went to Australia to complete her graduation in Bachelor of Engineering from the Edith Cowan University of Perth, Australia.[7]

Career

She started her acting career with Bisshoy, a TV drama written by Bipasha Hayat and directed by Tauquir Ahmed. The she worked on TV drama Aronno Monjuri directed by Abul Hayat. She is a cast member of Terminal, a TV series on NTV.[8] Besides her acting, Rakhi performed as a model of the song "Your Love" sung by Kona on her third album Simply Kona.[9]

In 2013, she also hosted various live shows and some programs like reality show Handsome: the Ultimate Man directed by Rayhan Khan and Wahid. Some of the scenes of this reality show were taken in Chittagong and some were in Thailand. She starred opposite Mosharraf Karim on “Mirzafar Mir,”, an Eid special in 2013.[10] The 2013 Eid season was a busy time for her as she also starred in five other TV shows including Emotional Abdur Motin, Ekta Gopon Kotha Chhilo Bolbar, and Adhare Aalo.[11]

Commercials

Rakhi has performed in television commercials. Among these, the commercials of 'Seylon Gold Tea' became most popular. She also acted as a model in the commercials of ‘Meril Chapstick’ of Square Company directed by Adnan Al Rajeev, ', 'Meril Revive talcum powder' directed by Gaji Shuvro, 'Pran Crako' by Nafiz Reja Monir, ‘Globe crackers’ directed by Mahfuz Ahmed.[12]
