Mahinda Amaraweera (Sinhala:මහින්ද අමරවීර ) (born February 12, 1962) is a Sri Lankan politician. He is the present Minister of Fisheries . He is representative of Hambantota District for the United People's Freedom Alliance in the Parliament of Sri Lanka. He's residence is in Colombo.

Birth and Education

He was born in a remote village called Udayala in Angunukolapelessa. He received his primary education at Angunukolapalessa primary school and secondary education at Vijitha Central College, Dickwella.[1]

Politics

On 8th March 2016, Amaraweera was appointed General Secretary of the United People's Freedom Alliance, which was vacated by the death of Wiswa Warnapala [2]

Family

He is married to 'Dilrukshika Amaraweera' daughter of Mr & Mrs Weerakoon from Kandy. And they have only one son 'Pasan Amaraweera' he is currently studying at Royal College Colombo
