Manav Rachna International University is a co-educational private university from the state of Haryana, India. The university has its main campus in Faridabad, near Delhi in the state of Haryana.

History

Estabilished as the Career Institute of Technology and Management in 1997, it initially functioned under the control of the Maharishi Dayanand University. It offered courses in both engineering and management. The institute gained deemed status in 2008-09, and was renamed MR International University.[1] Faridabad Institute of Technology (a private institute established in 2000), a part of Manav Rachna Educational Institutions, was also merged into the new University. The last batch of students graduated under the banner of the Career Institute of Technology and Management in June 2012.

Campus

Faridabad Campus

The university has 6 sections, named as A to T blocks, spread over 60 acres (0.24 km2), including few under construction. The University have a Auditorium (700-seat capacity), MBA block, MBA library along with a Central Library with Internet facility and a Cafeteria. There are about four hostels, two for boys and two for girls and a separate hostel for international students. Work is going on in the construction of a University Building of 4 floors in which already the Central Library has been opened. Work is being done towards the completion by the end of 2012. A Multipurpose Indoor Stadium with facilities such as shooting, billiards, snooker, squash and badminton has been developed and it was inaugurated by Shri Abhinav Bindra in 2010 when MRIU offered admission in MBA international to him. The University also features courts and fields for Basketball, Cricket and Volleyball among others.[2]

Sonipat Campus

This campus is located in the Rajiv Gandhi Education City, Sonipat and is under construction, first batch of students will commence the admissions from 2016.

Admissions

B.Tech

Students seeking admissions to B.Tech courses appear for the AIEEE exam conducted by the CBSE every year in April. Students who qualify this exam exercise their choices at the counselling conducted by MRIU in June–July. With more than a thousand seats available, candidates can expect to be admitted to the institute with some ease. Admission into the first year of the B.Tech program can only be obtained through this route. Students who have a three-year diploma from a recognised polytechnic in the state can directly get admission to the second year of the B.Tech program through the MR-NAT Exam. MR-NAT is an online exam organised by the MRIU, usually held in June. Only a limited number of seats are filled through this route.

M.Tech

Admission to this program will be on the basis of performance in the GATE Entrance Test. Candidate with valid GATE score can apply and will be considered for admission. Merit list will be prepared and candidates will be called for counseling.

M.C.A

Admission to this program will be on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination and entrance test OLET-MCA conducted by HSCS. Candidates, on the basis of the merit list, will be called for counseling at MRIU for final Admission.

MBA

Students seeking admission to the three year MBA course are required to have minimum 50% marks in Bachelor’s or postgraduate Degree in any discipline from a recognized university or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto and have to appear for admission test 'MAT' conducted by AIMA.

Admission to all other courses is based on the performance in qualifying examination. All these admissions are generally held in month of June and July.[5]

Examination system

Each academic year is divided into two semesters. Each semester has two internal exams (sessional exams) and one final exam (semester exam) for all theory subjects. For laboratory courses there is one internal exam followed by the final semester exam. Most of the exams are theoretical like most other engineering colleges in India.

Training and Placement

The Training and Placement department helps MRIU graduates get jobs. MRIU was accredited by Tata Consultancy Services in 2007. MRIU graduates have gone on to work in several large corporations, including Microsoft, Accenture, Infosys Technologies, Mahindra Satyam, Larsen & Toubro Infotech, NIIT Technologies, Nokia Siemens and Dell.[6]

Manav Rachna International University as an initiative to prepare students for industry organizes various workshops, conferences and other technical and managerial events. As a part of this initiative, a workshop on Automotive Engineering & Latest Technologies is being organised in the campus on 23 & 24 Nov'2013 in association with ParaMek Technologies where students will be given practical exposure by de-assembly of a real Engine and stripping of car components.

University status

The university is approved by the University Grants Commission and it is National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accredited A grade university. It's a Deemed university.

Research activities

MRIU has undertaken a large number of research projects, and the University encourages faculty members to publish articles in various journals. It also holds various conferences and symposiums from time to time to enable the faculty members and students to showcase their intellectual acumen and knowledge.

MRIU faculty on rolls as of 2011, in the preceding 5 years, published 187 research papers in international journals, 103 research papers in national journals, 102 research papers in international conferences and 251 papers in national conferences, total being 643 research publications. The number of research paper publications in affiliation to MRIU starting from 1.1.2009 to date comes out to be 104 in international journals, 57 in national journals, 53 in international conferences and 162 in national conferences. In addition, faculty of the university has published 26 books in 2009, 2010 and 2011 only. The number of patents filed after conferment of deemed to be university status are 14 out of which 5 have been granted.
