Manhattan, Florida

Manhattan was a planned community in Manatee County, Florida. Today it is a Unincorporated Community[1]

History

Manhattan was named for Manhattan a borough of New York City. The town was made by investors in 1926. The site of the town had almost no structures other than buildings to promote sales and a general store. It was abandoned by the time The Great Depression started. Today, there are no remains of the former town site. The site was on the North Shore of Lake Manatee.
