Mare milk

Milking of mare in Kyrgyzstan.

Mare milk is a milk secreted by horse mare during lactation to feed foal. The mare milk is particularly rich in whey protein, polyunsaturated fatty acids and vitamin C.[1] The beverage kumis is traditionally made from mare milk.

Powdered mare milk is available in several European countries, such as Germany, France and Italy.[1]
