Mario Babic (born 19 May 1987) is an Austro-English raised actor, model, and musician.[1] He played Frank Stanford in Simon P. Edward's film Lion (2014),[2] Chris Coltweild in the upcoming drama sport film Fighting Heart,[3] John Quest in 1603, is set to portray the titular character of Kudos, a rising artist, in the upcoming drama romance film The Singleton, Donovan in The Surrogate of Infidelity , Desmond in upcoming fantasy film Londinium and recently has been confirmed for upcoming western film A Fistful of Bullets.[4]

Early life

Babic was born in Vienna, Austria. He attended and boarded at HF International College, where he played football and participated in the drama department. He attended WU University and later signed in at LSE London, but dropped out and moved to London to train as an actor.[5]

Career

In 2013, Babic appeared in drama feature film I'm Still Here.[6] He has modelled for Gareth Pugh, Chanel, Max Mara, GANT, Armani, Gucci, Marc Stone and Diesel among other brands.[7] Babic appeared in the drama film Beneath a Neon Tide, in 2014.[8] In August 2014, He starred alongside Black Hawk Down's Ian Virgo in Lion (2014), where he played Frank Stanford, a conflicted yet driven and ascending young pioneer.[9] In 2013, director Luke Hupton, who worked alongside Academy Award nominee Peter Bogdanovich, has cast and chosen him among the principal roles in his debut feature film 27, Memory Lane (2014).[10][11][12]

In 2014, Babic starred alongside The Maze Runner's Thomas Brodie Sangster in the Luka State's music video Rain,[13] appeared briefly in TV commercial Coco Mademoiselle, directed by Joe Wright, featuring Keira Knightley for Chanel French perfume[14] and starred as James in Edition Records band Slowly Rolling Camera's music video Dream a life (2014).[15][16]

On 31 March 2014, Babic was announced to play the male lead role of Kudos in upcoming drama romance thriller The Singleton, directed by award winning director Paul J. Lane. Mario will play a daring artist, suffering from the trauma of the sudden disappearance of a loved one, who meets a psychologist and unwillingly lands himself in trouble when he gets thrown into a romantic yet perilous liaison with a young and troubled women during his stay.[17][18][19] In late 2014, Babic has been confirmed as Chris Coltweild, a pro boxer, in the upcoming sport drama film Fighting Heart.[20]

On 21 March 2015, after he joined the cast of The Surrogate of Infidelity ,to play the role of Donovan, in January 2015, he was announced to play John Quest, a curious detective, in 1603,[21] beside Bent's Crispian Belfrage, Danny Darren and Rachel Marquez. In April 2015, Babic was circled and confirmed for upcoming western film A Fistful of Bullets with Geoff Bell from Steven Spielberg's War Horse. In May 2015, he took on the role of Desmond, a larger than life character who thinks he is a circus director during his working hours as a doorman, in upcoming fantasy film Londinium, alongside Paul J. Lane, Brian Croucher, Rodrigo Rodrigues, Legend`s Shane Hart and Jadey Duffield.
