Maryline Blackburn is a European-born African American singer. Blackburn won the 1984 Miss Alaska pageant ahead of Miss Wasilla, Sarah Heath, later Sarah Palin, who went on to become Alaska Governor and Republican Vice Presidential candidate. Blackburn represented Alaska in the 1985 Miss America pageant,[1] at which she won a nonfinalist talent award.
She currently lives in Smyrna, Georgia.[1]
On October 25, 2008, Blackburn appeared on the series premiere of D.L. Hughley Breaks the News, a CNN comedic news show.
On April 28, 2010, Blackburn announced her candidacy for a seat in the Georgia State Legislature, representing the state’s 34th district. Blackburn was nominated by the Democratic Party but lost in the general election to incumbent Rich Golick.[2]
