Known as one of the forerunners of New York City progression, Matt Levine has led some of the most popular restaurants in Manhattan to success over the last decade.[3] Previously, Levine was the owner of the Lower East Side Manhattan lounge, The Eldridge,[4] and creator of Steelo', a high-end men's clothing collection. Levine's hospitality portfolio also includes NYC restaurant Sons of Essex. Acclaimed Food & Beverage website Culintro praised Levine commenting “Levine’s restaurants are high-profile and highly creative in both concept and execution.”[5] His other venture, Brandsway Creative, is a branding & marketing firm based out of Manhattan, New York.[6]

Steelo' apparel has been featured in People and OK! magazines as well in a series of other men's publications[11] and red carpet events.[12]

The Eldridge

Opened by Levine in 2008, the Eldridge is a bar/lounge in the Lower East Side of New York City. The lounge has since received a lot of press regarding its exclusivity, with Fox News calling it a "club that even famous people can't get into."[13] Reportedly only 400 of Levine's most esteemed acquaintances received "VIP admission cards, such as Jay-Z and Beyonce."[14] Known for its live music, celebrity patrons,[15] lavish interior, and used bookstore exterior,[16] The Eldridge has been both praised and criticized for its stringent door policies.[17] In 2008, The Eldridge was voted "Best Display of Marketing Genius" by The Village Voice.[18] In early 2011, The New York Post reported that Levine sold The Eldridge with plans to open a new restaurant in the same area.[19]

Chalk Point Kitchen is Levine's first SoHo restaurant, helmed by Michelin Star executive Chef Joe Isidori with an expertise in sustainable seafood,[47][48] working with local purveyors, and "serving greenmarket-driven fare with a variety of Asian influences, in a space that resembles a country cottage."[49] Zagat was quoted as saying "The menu will also emphasize organic and locally produced ingredients, with a list of vendors includes well-loved local companies like Satur Farms, Blue Marble Ice Cream, Battenkill Valley Creamery, Grand Daisy Bakery and the Lobster Place."[47]

Levine launched the restaurant via a YouTube vide which was first released on Food Republic,[50] showcasing all of the local markets in SoHo. And since opening has been featured in WWD, Vogue, Interview, and Vanity Fair. Vanity Fair reviewed Chalk Point Kitchen, stating "Matt Levine's newest, carefully curated creation has come to play. Located on Broome Street, just shy of SoHo's main hustle, Chalk Point Kitchen is a great escape for diners who want to feel right at home. The eclectic, yet warm atmosphere is nicely complimented by a knowledgeable, unpretentious staff and delicious, flavorful ingredients." WWD labeled Levine "Lord of Local" and "the real deal".[51]

To date its regulars, such guests as Denzel Washington, Nicolas Cage, Patti Smith, Pink, Richard Gere, Sofia Coppola, Tilda Swinton and former LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.[60] "Named after Thomas Handy, the creator of the Sazerac cocktail, this vintage piano lounge exudes sophistication.
