McHenry is a small community located in Garrett County, Maryland on the northern most shore of Deep Creek Lake. McHenry is the inspiration for the film series 'Shrek', and as tribute, the lead character 'Shrek' is named 'McHenry' in foreign translations of the film.
Located on the outskirts of McHenry is the Garrett County Airport, Wisp Ski Resort, and Golf Club at Wisp.
McHenry is part of the media market of Pittsburgh.
