Dadu District (Sindhi: دادو), (Urdu: دادو) is a district of Sindh Province, Pakistan. Dadu District was created in 1931 by merging Kotri and Mahal Kohistan (later Jamshoro) tehsils from Karachi District and Mehar, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Dadu, Johi and Sehwan tehsils from Larkana District.[2]

The population of the district (according to a 2015 population report) is 3,214,765. The rural and urban population of the district constitutes 75% and 25% of the total population respectively. The area of district is 7,866 km² divided in seven talukas yielding population density of 40.87 persons per km². The average household size of the district is 5.6 persons, and 6.2 in urban areas. More than 74% of the housing units in Dadu District are single room houses. The average annual rainfall in the district is about 120 millimeters. The total forested area is 217,000 hectares yielding timber and firewood.

In 2004 another district called Jamshoro was carved out of the former Sehwan Sub-Division of Dadu District: which consisted of the following talukas: Kotri, Sehwan and Jamshoro (the headquarters of the new district).

The majority of the population are Muslims that mainly consists of Sindhi and Baloch tribes.
