Metcalfe Station is a bus station on OC Transpo's Central Transitway. There are two parts of the station, as the Transitway runs on two parallel streets. The north station serves westbound traffic, and is found on Albert Street, and the south station serves eastbound traffic, and is found on Slater Street. Both of these streets are included in the transitway because of their bus-only lanes. The station is named for Metcalfe Street, which is a north-south street which runs perpendicular to the Transitway. The stations are located east of Metcalfe and west of Elgin Street.
It is the closest station to Parliament Hill and the Parliament Buildings, and is very close to the World Exchange Plaza. Other nearby key buildings includes the Royal Bank building, Bell Canada Place and Ottawa City Hall.
