Miętkie [ˈmjɛntkʲɛ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Mircze, within Hrubieszów County, Lublin Voivodeship, in eastern Poland, close to the border with Ukraine.[1] It lies approximately 7 kilometres (4 mi) west of Mircze, 20 km (12 mi) south of Hrubieszów, and 110 km (68 mi) south-east of the regional capital Lublin.

History

World War II

In March 1944, Mietkie was one of hundreds of locales attacked by Polish partisans in acts of ethnic cleansing against the ethnic Ukrainian population. 105 villagers were brutally murdered and 160 houses destroyed.[2]
