Mick McCarthy (Gaelic footballer)
      
Mick McCarthy (1965 – February 1998) was an Irish sportsperson. He was born in Skibbereen, County Cork. He played Gaelic football with his local club O'Donovan Rossa and was a member of the Cork senior inter-county team from 198 until 199.He won two senior All Ireland medals with Cork and captained O'Donovan Rossa to an All Ireland club final which they won.He scored 1-8 which made him the highest scorer in an All Ireland club final.[1]
McCarthy was fatally injured in a road traffic accident on February 4, 1998.[2]
