MySocialCloud is a cloud-based bookmark vault and password website that allows users to log in to all of their online accounts from a single, secure website.[1] The company’s investors include Sir Richard Branson, Insight Venture Partners’ Jerry Murdock, and PhotoBucket founder Alex Welch.[1][2][3]

MySocialCloud’s co-founders, Stacey Ferreira and Scott Ferreira, were 18 and 20 years old at the time they founded the company.[1][2][4] The company and its founders have been featured in TechCrunch and The Huffington Post.

MySocialCloud is headquartered in Los Angeles, and Scott Ferreira is the current CEO.[4]

History

MySocialCloud was co-founded by Scott Ferreira, Stacey Ferreira, and Shiv Prakash in 2011.[2][5] The idea for a one-stop password storage and login tool came when a computer crash left Scott without documents he used to store access information to his online data.[1]

The siblings moved to Los Angeles and began to develop the company while living in a small apartment in South Central LA.[3][6] In the summer of 2011, Stacey saw a tweet from Sir Richard Branson asking people to donate $2,000 to charity for the chance to fly to Miami and meet him over intimate cocktails.[3][7] The pair attended the event by borrowing $4,000 from their parents.[8] At the event, they spoke with Branson one-on-one and were able to secure his contact details.[6]

A few weeks after the charity event, Branson introduced the siblings to Jerry Murdock, founder of Insight Venture Partners.[1][9] Within a week, Murdock flew to Los Angeles and met with the siblings and their partner, Prakash. Later that night over dinner, Jerry announced that he and Branson would be investing in MySocialCloud, making the siblings, ages 18 and 20 at the time, the youngest investments of both Sir Richard Branson and Jerry Murdock.

In 2013, the siblings sold MySocialCloud to Reputation.com.[10]

Services

MySocialCloud is cloud-based, and the platform lets users securely store passwords and automatically log in to several social media websites simultaneously.[1] The website auto-populates password fields, letting the user log in to all of the sites at the push of a button.[6][11]

MySocialCloud also provides users with security updates for the websites they have included in their profile, and informs users if a website has been hacked.[12] Security played a major role during development of the platform.[1] Passwords stored on MySocialCloud are salted and hashed with a two-way encryption method known as AES.[12] MySocialCloud has said the encryption method is sufficiently complex that it would take trillions of years for passwords to be hacked via brute force.[12]
