The NASCAR Peak Antifreeze Series (NPAS) is a stock car racing simulation series officially sanctioned by NASCAR and hosted by iRacing.com. It is the top level of the NASCAR iRacing.com Series. The inaugural season of the NPAS started on February 9, 2010, and each year, the series features the top 50 stock car drivers on the iRacing simulation.[1]
Structure
Much of the structure, rules and details of the NPAS mimic the current NASCAR Sprint Cup series in a simulation form. The series is 34 weeks long with 16 races in total, including one drop race in the first 12 races. The NPAS utilizes simulated versions of the Sprint Cup Gen-6 Chevrolet SS, Ford Fusion, and Toyota Camry at virtual counterparts of official NASCAR tracks. The series has a total of 50 drivers and the points system is based on the current scoring system used in the Sprint Cup Series.[2]
Drivers wishing to take part in the NPAS must first progress through the standard iRacing.com license program, and compete in the NASCAR iRacing Pro Series during the NPAS off-season. The top 20 drivers from the Pro Series will enter the NPAS, with positions 1-10 earning a PRO/WC license, and positions 11-20 earning a PRO license. These top 20 Pro Series drivers join the top 30 NPAS drivers from the previous season, in order to complete the 50 driver NPAS roster for the upcoming season.[2] The NPAS has 43-car fields, which consist of 40 PRO/WC licensed drivers locked into the field, and 3 final spots occupied by drivers who finished in positions 11th-20th in Pro Series points. These 10 PRO licensed drivers qualify for each race, and the top 3 among them make the field.
