Naaptol is a home shopping company based in India that sells various products. The company has its headquarters in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
History
Naaptol was started by its founder and CEO,[1] an IIT Kanpur alumnus in January 2008 as a product research and price comparison service.[2] In 2009 it adapted the marketplace model and stated selling products online.
Business Model
Naaptol follows the marketplace business model. It has a website, and has also ventured into the m-commerce segment.
Investment
In the initial stage, Naaptol started with a seed capital of Rs.50 lakhs. In 2010, Naaptol started investing in print media. Naaptol raised Rs 136 crore also from Mitsui & Co in April and an additional Rs343 crore in November this year. Mitsui now owns 20% stake in the 7 year old naaptol.
Multimedia Operations
In 2015, Naaptol.com raised Rs 136 crore from Japanese conglomerate Mitsui & Co. Naaptol has raised funding from New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Canaan Partners[3] and Silicon Valley Bank during its journey since 2008. By 2010, Naaptol ventured into print media. In 2012 the company started showcasing its products through broadcast media. Naaptol today advertises in around 35 broadcast publications.
