Namuwiki (Korean: 나무위키) is a Korean wiki that started on April 17, 2015. Namu (나무) literally means "tree" in Korean. As of February 1, 2016, it has more than 300,000 articles, making it the third largest Korean-language wiki following Korean Wikipedia, Korean Wiktionary. It focuses on a wide range of topics, including Otaku cultures.

History

On April 2015, almost all users left Rigveda Wiki, and most of them joined Namuwiki, which is one of the biggest wikis forked from the Rigveda Wiki.[1]

Feature

Namuwiki is mostly similar to Rigvdea Wiki. However, its differences lie in the administrator election and the rules regarding editing. Namuwiki is considered to be more democratized than Rigveda Wiki. However, it is often criticized for the slowness of the decision-making processes.

The increased percentage of minors editing articles is pointed as one of the causes of the decrease of the quality of the wiki.

Namuwiki has been harmed by defective administrators. Almost every administrator has resigned, been disgraced or even blocked after facing harsh criticism of their defects.
