Rigveda Wiki (Korean: 리그베다 위키) is a Korean wiki started on March 1, 2007. As of July 17, 2013, it has more than 200,000 articles, making it the fourth largest Korean-language wiki following Korean Wikipedia, Korean Wiktionary and the Namu Wiki, fork of Rigveda Wiki. It focuses on a wide range of topics.
History
On March 9, 2012, Rigveda Wiki was separated from Angelhalo, a website based on a wiki, and became an independent website.[2][3] On August 2, 2013, Rigveda Wiki opened its beta service and the layout of the website has since changed. Since then, people can use Rigveda Wiki from mobile devices.[4]
Their server is offline since April 25, 2015 because of license trouble which is conflict between CCL and site system. On May 17th, the server came online, but only owners and registered users could contribute. a little later, unregistered users allowed to contribute, but what allowed to them was only editing.
After April 2015, almost all user left rigveda wiki, and almost of them went to Namu Wiki which is one of the biggest forked wiki forked from the Rigveda wiki. Their license has been updated by June 2015 to mitigate the allegation about the license.
Features
It is based on a wiki system in which anyone can add or edit information. People can write as logged in members or as anonymous editors signing with their IP addresses. By doing so, users can more freely write articles than on Wikipedia, and they can include their opinions as well.[5] As a result, Rigveda Wiki has more articles about pop culture topics such as cartoons, animations, games, and television programs. It has a board for discussing, questioning, and answering subjects relevant to articles.[6]
Unlike Wikipedia, where only administrators can delete articles, Rigveda Wiki users can delete articles themselves. But since the editing log remains, users may restore it at any time.
It can have deletion lines. This is a line on the middle of letters that means 'whispering', or something you want to say but you don't want to have that actually being spoken.[7]
Criticism
Rigveda Wiki itself introduces a place full of information, which is either useless or related to subcultures, such as otakus. It is less objective than Wikipedia. Rigveda Wiki allows guessing, individual opinions, and rumors without any reliable sources, and therefore includes inaccurate information which is very likely to be disputed.[8]

This term is used to describe people who spend a lot of time in Rigveda Wiki. People think that they don't have any special purpose on their lives and spend their time just doing nothing.[9]
Preserving memory
Rigveda Wiki is a place to preserve social memory. Sinking of the MV Sewol was a horrible memory for South Koreans, and they don't want to forget about this. Rigveda Wiki was one of the websites used to record people's thoughts on this incident. As a result, in only a week, 34,000 words were added to the related article on the wiki.[10]
