Naroda is a suburban town in Bapunagar, northeast of central Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. With the establishment of the Naroda Industrial Area in the 1980s, the town flourished; it was incorporated into Ahmedabad in 1996. Being eight km from Ahmedabad International Airport and located on the SP Ring Road, Naroda is situated on the emerging Gandhinagar-Ahmedabad-Vadodara (GAV) corridor.[1]

Location
Naroda is three miles from Ahmedabad(8 km), near the intersection of National Highway No. 8 and National Highway 59. It is near Bapunagar, which has a diamond market. Kalupur,&krishanagar the geographic center of Ahmedabad, is at a distance of 5 km.
It is predominantly filled with Hindus and Jains. Most of the people inhabiting Naranpura are Gujaratis. A substantial amount of Parsis, Sindhis, South Indians, Punjabis and Baloch Hindu migrate pakistan also live there.
Naroda has two parts: Juna Naroda (Old Naroda) and Nava Naroda (New Naroda). At the center of Naroda (called Naroda Gam or Naroda Bazaar) are an old fountain and a newly developed park.
Naroda has flourished over the past few years due to its close location from the SVIP(Sardar Vallabh bhai Patel International Airport) Airport and the Ahmedabad Railway Station.
Railway station (Kalupur Railway Station aprrox 10 Km), Airport (SVP Airport approx 8 km) and Bus Station (Krushnnagar approx 3 km) all are in the range of 10 kilometers form Naroda.
History
During the 2002 Gujarat riots Naroda Patiya witnessed the Naroda Patiya massacre, one of the worst communal violence in which 97 people were killed.[3] On August 29, 2012, a SIT court convicted sitting Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Naroda, Maya Kodnani, Bajrang Dal's Babu Bajrangi were found guilty by the special trial court on August 30, 2012, it also convicted 30 other people, while acquitting 29 of the accused due to insufficient evidence.[4][5]
Demographics
Naroda has over the last two years transformed from a neglected industrial area to desirable location for homes.[6] The population of the town is a mix of people from throughout India, but it is predominantly a Hindu population, with a minority of Malayalis and Sindhis who have been residing here for the last two decades.
Industry
The Naroda GIDC industrial park hosts national and multinational corporations such as Reliance Industries Ltd, PepsiCo, Ingersoll-Rand, Dresser Industries, Harshtaiana, engaged in manufacturing of sectional warper, Laxmi Engineers manufacturer of sheet metal components and various chemical and textile industries, including Arvind Mills, Umiya Textile and Nirman Textile. Pharmaceutical companies include Dishman,[7] Tuton, Westcoast and Maccure. India's snack food manufacturer Samrat Namkin is located in Naroda.
Several major township projects are being developed along the Ahmedabad-Vadodara expressway with Naroda being at the center of the development. In the recent Vibrant Gujarat summit, 24 projects worth more than Rs 1,000 crore were slated to be developed in this part of city and along the Ahmedabad-Vadodara expressway. Projects include hospitals, clubs, educational institutions, NRI residential colonies, a business park and a 120-room hotel.[8]
Places of interest
Naroda features some beautiful temples such as the Ayyappa Temple, Lord Sankar temple, Ranchodrai, Satyanarayan and Padmavati Mataji's Jain Temple Hanumanji Mandir, Gokuliya Hanuman, Ganesh Temple. It also has the great Mahaprabhuji's Bethak, a famous pilgrim place for Vaishnavites. It is believed that Mahaprabhu stayed here for some time. One new added place is SMVS (Swaminarayan Mandir Vasana Sanstha) Temple.[9]
There is a recently developed lake, and the world's largest collection of antique cars in KathWada at IB farm (Dastan Farm).
Recently, Khari-canal side Garden/Park is inaugurated by chief minister of Gujarat, Mr. Narendra Modi.
At Nava Naroda, one of the Interesting thing is number of the societies whose name are related to the lord Like Urvashi bunglows, Tirupati bunglows, Gokuldham, Krishna kunj, Gokul duplex, Radheshyam, Radhe galaxy, Madhuvan,Surohi park -1, Murlidhar, Keshavbag etc.
Naroda having two very well known theaters, one is Galaxy which serving entertainment since more than 25 years. Another is Devi multiplex which is one of the most affordable theater in Naroda. Third one is Rajhans cinema which in Nikol, near to Nava Naroda.
Galaxy restaurant, Mayur restaurant, Emerald restaurant, Desi Tadka restaurant, Surbhi restaurant, Sankalp, Food Point restaurant etc are the best places for the variety of foods .
People
The late business tycoon Dhirubhai Ambani started his first textile mill in Naroda in 1977.
