NgÄti PÅneke is a MÄori iwi of New Zealand. It is a pan-tribal iwi of MÄori who have migrated to the city of Wellington (like NgÄti Ä€karana in Auckland and NgÄti Ranana in London).
"PÅneke" is a Maori language name for Wellington, derived from "Port Nicholson".
