Ngāti Tūrangitukua are a hapu of the Ngati Tuwharetoa iwi. Ngāti Tūrangitukua are the major hapu of the Turangi area. In 1998, they received an apology and $5,000,000 from the New Zealand Crown as settlement for claims relating to the Treaty of Waitangi.[1]
