NokScoot Airlines Company Limited, trading as NokScoot, is a Thailand-based low-cost medium to long-haul airline. It plans to operate international services out of Bangkok's Don Mueang International Airport.

NokScoot is a joint venture of Thailand's Nok Air and Singapore based Scoot.[1] The new airline has started commercial flights out of Don Mueang International Airport since 20 May 2015.[2]

Scoot announced on December 16, 2013, the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Nok Air to establish a new carrier in Bangkok. NokScoot will operate medium and long-haul routes with a fleet of Boeing 777-200 aircraft.[3]

Ownership

Nok Air owns 51% of NokScoot, with Scoot, part of Singapore Airlines, owning the remaining 49%, the Thai statutory limit for foreign ownership. The airline will have an initial capital of 2 billion baht.[4]

Fleet

NokScoot is unable to import any of Scoot's five Boeing 777s as a Thai DCA rule prohibits the import of aircraft older than 14 years. Thus, NokScoot had to lease newer Boeing 777-200ERs from Singapore Airlines for five years for its launch. On 23 November 2014, NokScoot took delivery of its first Boeing 777-200ER.

As of June 2015, the NokScoot fleet consists of the following aircraft:

Cabin

NokScoot's aircraft are operated in a two-class configuration, ScootBiz and Economy.

ScootBiz

There are 24 ScootBiz seats (Black in colour seats) in a 2-4-2 configuration, with a seat pitch of 38 inches (97 cm), a seat width of 21.7 in (55 cm), 8 in (20 cm) of seat recline, plus a footrest and in-arm trays that can be unfolded partially or fully. Similar to its parent airline Scoot, all ScootBiz seats have in-seat power, while the airfare includes complimentary meals and 20 kg (44 lb) of checked luggage allowance.[12]

Economy

There are 391 Economy seats in a 3-4-3 configuration, with seat pitch ranging from 31 to 36 in (79 to 91 cm) and just over 6 inches of recline. Passengers have to pay for meals in economy, either pre-paid or buy-on board. Passengers must also pay for any checked luggage.[13]

There are three types of economy seats. The Standard Economy seats (blue in colour) have a 31 in (79 cm) seat pitch. Passengers can pick their own seats for a fee. The Super seats (yellow in colour) in the economy cabin have a 35 in (89 cm) seat pitch. Passengers can book the Super Seats for a fee. The S-t-r-e-t-c-h seats (also yellow in colour) have a 36 in (91 cm) seat pitch, are located at the front of each section of the economy cabin. As these are bulkhead and exit row seats, there are no seats in front of them to recline back to invade their space, giving them the most legroom in the economy cabin. Passengers choosing S-T-R-E-T-C-H seats will have to pay more compared to the Super Seats.[14]
