Norwegian Joy, formerly called the Norwegian Bliss, is currently under construction at Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. The vessel is among the most modern and environmental cruise ships, which is expected to be completed and enter in service in 2018. The vessel implements the most modern shipbuilding and marine engineering technologies, for efficiency and safety at sea.

Design

Norwegian Joy has overall length 325.90 m (1,069.2 ft), moulded beam 45.50 m (149.3 ft) and maximum draft 9.00 m (29.53 ft). The ship has gross tonnage of 167,400 GT and deadweight of 11,700 DWT. Norwegian Joy has 20 decks, 2,220 staterooms and capacity for 8,250 passengers in double occupancy. The cruise ship has modern architecture, comfortable accommodations and a lot of entertainments for the guests. The staterooms are available for families in several different areas and studios for single passengers, but also vessel has luxury and unique wellness rooms, which include spa, larger living area and a lot of extras. The guests on board can enjoy really impressive accommodation area, as more than 80% of the rooms have seaview, while 40% of them have own balconies.

Cruise ship attractions

On board of cruise ship Norwegian Joy will be located one of the largest water parks at sea, as well as giant spa and wellness salon. The guests can enjoy international cuisine in some of the 5 restaurants from highest class. Also on board has a lot of fast food buffets, cafes and lounges. Norwegian Joy has large theater, art gallery and luxury boutiques of the best known the fashion brands.

Ship engineering

Norwegian Joy has five main engines with total output power of 102,900 hp. The vessel has two MAN B&W 14V48/60CR, each with power of 22,520 hp and three MAN B&W 12V48/60CR, each with power of 19,300 hp. The propulsion system is two ABB Azipod XO units with total power of 40 MW, which allows service speed of 22.5 kts, while the maximum speed during trials exceeds 25.0 kts.
