Oaklands railway station is located on the Seaford line.[1] Situated in the south-western Adelaide suburb of Oaklands Park, it is 12.8 kilometres from Adelaide station.
2008 Redevelopment
On 6 June 2008, the original island platform was closed and demolished. The platform had a 1960s structure that contained asbestos. A new station incorporating a bus interchange opened immediately to the south west on 10 June 2008.[2][3]
The timetable was also modified so that all trains now stop at the station.[1]
Future Redevelopment
In 2011-2012, the state government undertook a planning study into a grade separation project to eliminate the level crossing south of the station by building an underpass beneath the railway line for Diagonal Road. As of 2015, this project is not funded to proceed.[4]
