Marapendi Olympic Golf Course
The Rio de Janeiro Olympic golf course (Portuguese: Campo Olímpico de Golfe) is a new venue built for the golf tournaments of the 2016 Summer Olympics, [1] [2] within the Marapendi Natural Reserve in the Barra da Tijuca zone of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
It will be the first time for golf to be played at the Olympics since the 1904 Summer Olympics [3] and is to feature two events, the men's and women's individual events.
Format
A proposal was made to have a 72-hole individual stroke play tournament with the official rules of golf. In the event of a tie for any of the first three positions, a three-hole playoff will determine the medal winners.[4]
