Orchard Mile is a New York based luxury fashion online retailer of womenswear. The company was founded by fashion-tech veterans Jennie Baik, Georgie Benardete, Julia Wetherell and a consulting firm, Marvin Traub Associates to cater clients looking for luxury brands online.[1][2]

History

The company was started by fashion-tech veterans Jennie Baik of Burberry Americas, Georgie Benardete of ShopBeam, Julia Wetherell of MyDrobe, Marvin Traub Associates, a global strategy consulting firm in the upscale retail and consumer goods sector.[3][4] The founders believed there was a lack of ecommerce retailers serving a luxury consumer segment that appreciates the high-touch customer service of boutique shopping, combined with a wide breadth of designer merchandise. Orchard Mile launched to the public in time for the 2015 holiday shopping season, receiving record traffic for Black Friday.[5]

After the launch, Orchard Mile was identified as the first multibrand luxury shopping experience across all digital platforms.[6][7] The company has received editorial coverage in WWD, The Observer, InStyle, and Radar Online, and its products have been featured on vogue.com, stylewatch.com, dailymail.com, elle.com, cosmopolitan.com, and others.[8]

The company has developed co-marketing initiatives with women's fashion brands Roland Mouret and Fleur du Mal, and brand Knot Standard. Its ecommerce property also offers editorial coverage, producing weekly travel-shopping "Walk the Mile" stories, which recently featured tennis icon Maria Sharapova.[9][10] The exclusive content broke previous traffic records from November 2015.[11][12]

Operations

Since its inception, Orchard Mile has operated its business through the online retail channel. The website offers the My Mile feature, which allows users to create their own personal shopping experience using favorite brands in order to customize shopping preferences and see curated new arrivals.[13] Orchard Mile works on a commission based model with its partner brands and uses proprietary technology to stock every item from their web sites with very little tech integration. As of February 2016, Orchard Mile offers the ability to shop more than 40 designers with one checkout process.

Products

Orchard Mile retails designer women's clothing from more than 40 fashion designers including Diane von Furstenberg, Matthew Williamson, Temperley London, Tamara Mellon, Perrin Paris, and Roland Mouret.[14] In addition to apparel, designer shoes, handbags, jewelry, and other accessories are available through the digital store.[15]
