Orichevsky District (Russian: Оричевский райо́н) is an administrative^[1] and municipal^[3] district (raion), one of the thirty-nine in Kirov Oblast, Russia. It is located in the center of the oblast. The area of the district is 2,490 square kilometers (960 sq mi). Its administrative center is the urban locality (an urban-type settlement) of Orichi.^[1] Population: 30,781 (2010 Census);^[4] 32,764 (2002 Census);^[7] 36,425 (1989 Census).^[8] The population of Orichi accounts for 25.9% of the district's total population.^[4]

Economy and transportation

The Pishchalskoye peat narrow gauge railway for hauling peat operates in the district.
