Parris Goebel

Parris Renee Goebel (October 29, 1991) is an award winning New Zealand born choreographer, dancer, actress and rapper of Samoan descent who has worked with artists including Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, Jolin Tsai, BIGBANG, CL and iKON.[1] [2]

Goebel founded The Royal family when she was 15. ReQuest is based in a studio in Penrose, Auckland.[2] In 2014, she was awarded the World of Dance Female Choreographer of the Year.[3] In 2014, Goebel starred in Step Up: All In as Violet.

In 2015, Goebel starred in BIGBANG's "Bang Bang Bang". That same year, she and her crew featured in CL's (leader of 2NE1) music video for HELLO BI+CHES.

Goebel choreographed the video "Sorry" for Justin Bieber, which as of March 2016 is one of the 20 top viewed videos on YouTube of all time with more than one billion views.[4]

Style

Parris is known for her particular style, which was created by her, polyswagg. Nowadays it is a famous style in the hip hop world which and it is danced by a lot of famous people. It consists in combining two really important attitudes in a dancer: strength and nerve.

Paris also draws on music inspirations from DanceHall. Vast amounts of her routines she has choreographed include this element, most notably in the Royal Family's World Hip Hop Dance Championship[5] performances.

As she describes it, her style is based on hearing, breathing and living the music, being passionate while you dance and also transmit your feelings

Achievements

· In 2009, she was awarded the Street Dance New Zealand Choreographer of the Year and Dancer of the Year.

· ReQuest, her original dance crew, were the first group of outside of America to participate in the MTV show, American Best Dance Crew (ABDC) in its sixth season.

· She was part of Cirque du Soleil for the Michael Jackson show ONE.

· She has taught her own style, polyswagg, nearly all around the world; USA, Asia, Europe, Australia and her native country, New Zealand.

· She worked on Jennifer Lopez's World Tour in 2012 , performed with her in the American Idol final Season 11 and appeared with her dance crew, ReQuest one of JLo's music videos.

· Parris has eight gold medals (16 total) from Hip Hop International's World Hip Hop Dance Championship, 2 with ReQuest (Varsity then Adult divisions, dancer/choreographer), 3 with the Royal Family (Megacrew division, dancer/choreographer), 2 with Bubblegum (Junior division, choreographer), and 1 with Sorority (Varsity division, choreographer).

· In 2014, Parris was awarded again as the female choreographer of the year 2014 at the World Of Dance Industry Awards in Los Angeles.
