Biography

Born in 1974 at Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Désilets is the son of Jacques Désilets, mathematician and director of CEGEP, and Luce de Bellefeuille, Director General of the Secretariat for International Adoption. In 1996, Désilets earned his bachelor's degree in film studies and literature at University of Montreal, to which time prior, he was enrolled at the Collège Édouard-Montpetit.[2] Coming from a background in film, he has used his creative vision to shape games in which he has taken a creative lead including 2007's Assassin's Creed and its 2009 sequel Assassin's Creed II. Désilets other credits include Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Disney's Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers and Hype: The Time Quest.[3]

Departure from Ubisoft

Désilets left Ubisoft in June 2010, which was confirmed by the company on June 13, 2010. The publisher explained to Game Informer that Désilets' role as creative lead on Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood was "essentially done," and that he's no longer involved with the completion of the game.

Patrice Désilets would officially return to the games industry in the summer of 2011, joining THQ in their newly developed Montreal based studio.[4] In January 2013, THQ Montreal was sold off to Ubisoft in an auction, Patrice was working at Ubisoft for his new project, describing it himself as a project where he put his 15 years of experience in video games.[5] The project was 1666: Amsterdam, and the title was described to be similar to the Assassin's Creed series.[6]

On May 7, 2013, Désilets again left Ubisoft. When asked why, Désilets replied, "Contrary to any statements made earlier today, this morning I was terminated by Ubisoft. I was notified of this termination in person, handed a termination notice and was unceremoniously escorted out of the building by two guards without being able to say goodbye to my team or collect my personal belongings. This was not my decision. Ubisoft's actions are baseless and without merit. I intend to fight Ubisoft vigorously for my rights, for my team and for my game."[7]

Panache Digital Games

In December 14 of 2014 Patrice Désilets with his team launches a new game development studio in Montreal "Panache Digital Games".[8]

In February 15 of 2015 Patrice Désilets announced, that he will present "Reboot Develop 2015". In April 23 on "Reboot Develop 2015" Désilets and his team announced the title of their first game developed and published by Panache Digital Games Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey which is a third person action-adventure survival episodic game.[9]

In April 2016, Désilets announced that he had gained back the rights to 1666, and settled the lawsuit with Ubisoft. He further added that 1666 would not be his priority, and that he intended to focus on and complete Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey first.[10]
